5Rhythms® with Tammy Burstein

I love summer, and I especially love August when whether or not your world comes to standstill that slow, take a breath, move with gradually shortening rays of waning summer sun to their fullest expression, is upon us (like it or not).

I love the grade school me that is fully engaged in the freedom of summer vacation while feeling the growing pull of back to school and the pull back of rooting into inertia as if not moving will stop the world from moving on with or without my consent.

I find myself struggling to keep up with adult things – emails to answer, workshop schedules to create, all the stuff that adolescent me wants to say fuck off to while older and wiser me knows can be simple if I just surrender my resistance to the now.  With every surrender to the “now” I find that I create more space and more time for the “what if” by not taking up time and space with the “not now”!

So here’s my now on the dance floor for the next few weeks (just in case your summer slows care to dance):

Fri., Aug. 14: Night Waves, 7.30-9.30PM, Joffrey Ballet School, 434 6th Ave., 5th Flr., $20, $15 (students), Class cards (good for use at Friday’s Night Waves in NYC only – $150 for 10 classes, $250 for 20 classes).

Tues., Aug. 18: High Vibration Waves, 7.30-9.30PM, Joffrey Ballet School, 434 6th Ave., 5th Flr., $20. Subbing for Jonathan Horan.

Fri., Aug. 21: Night Waves, 7.30-9.30PM, Joffrey Ballet School, 434 6th Ave., 5th Flr., $20, $15 (students), Class cards (good for use at Friday’s Night Waves in NYC only – $150 for 10 classes, $250 for 20 classes).

Fri., Aug. 28: Night Waves, 7.30-9.30PM, Joffrey Ballet School, 434 6th Ave., 5th Flr., $20, $15 (students), Class cards (good for use at Friday’s Night Waves in NYC only – $150 for 10 classes, $250 for 20 classes).
